My graduate research involves the synthesis and characterization of novel platinum based materials to be used in the fabrication of Organic Light Emitting Diodes (OLED's) and Organic Photovoltaic (OPV) solar cell devices. The research revolves around the combination of organic and inorganic complexes into device layers via sublimation onto device substrates. For the OLED projects, the advancement of color tuning to yield the desired output in the fewest layers possible. For OPV projects the goal is to create a device that could absorb the entirety of the visible and well into the ultraviolet and infrared regions. The projects both drive toward creating robust, efficient, cost effective devices that can optimize the current device standards
