UNT's Forensic Science Program, led by Dr. Teresa Golden, has been recertified by the American Academy of Forensic Sciences. The AAFS determined that UNT's Forensic Science certificate in conjunction with the Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Biochemistry, meet their standards for excellence in forensic methods and education. The certification lasts for a term of five years.

UNT's program remains the only AAFS-certified program for Chemistry and Biochemistry undergraduate students in the state of Texas.
