Chemistry welcomes new faculty members, Drs. Sophia Kinyanjui and Jason McAfee

The Chemistry Department family is proud to announce two new faculty members. The replacement searches for Profs. Jim Marshall and Lee Theriot have just been completed, and it is our pleasure to announce that Drs. Jason L. McAfee and Sophia N. Kinyanjui will join the Eagle Family as lecturers in Fall 2017.

Jason received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Texas Tech University in 2010, specializing in quantum calculations on the interaction of hydrogen with single-walled carbon nanotubes. Sophia received her Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of North Texas in 2015, specializing in the synthesis and spectroscopic investigations of luminescent platinum(II) compounds. Both colleagues have extensive teaching experience, having taught at several local area colleges, and they will be primarily involved in teaching freshman chemistry classes and their associated laboratories.

Welcome, Drs. Kinyanjui and McAfee, to the Chemistry Department family!
