Chemistry research professor Dr. Thomas Cundari was recently named the 2017 UNT Foundation Eminent Faculty award recipient. This
award recognizes a faculty member who has made outstanding and sustained contributions
to scholarly-creative activity, teaching, and service and has served as an inspiration
to the University of North Texas community. This award is one of the university's
highest faculty honors.
Dr. Cundari is Regents Professor of Chemistry. Dr. Cundari joined UNT in 2002 and
has published over 180 refereed papers, and has given over 110 invited seminars. Prof.
Cundari is one of two co-editors of Reviews in Computational Chemistry, the foremost
monograph series in the field. He is on the editorial board of Journal of Molecular
Structure: THEOCHEM. Dr. Cundari's research is currently funded by the NSF and the
U.S. Department of Energy. His research focuses on the development and application
of high-accuracy methods for modeling of transition metals and the application of
theory to the rational design of metal-based catalysts, sensors, optics and materials.
