Dr. Marshall received his B.A. 1982 and his Ph.D. in 1985 both from from the University of Cambridge. Dr. Marshall was a postdoctoral researcher at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute from 1985-1988 and then joined the UNT faculty in 1988. Dr. Marshall has served as Advisory Board Member for the International Journal of Chemical Kinetics and was promoted to Regents Professor in 2006.

Research Area:

  • Physical
  • Computational

Research:

  • Chemical Kinetics; Computational Chemistry; Combustion & Atmospheric Chemistry

Fundamental details of bond formation and chemical kinetics are investigated using infrared and time-resolved laser spectroscopy combined with high-level ab initio computational chemistry. The results are combined to improve our understanding of atmospheric and combustion chemistry, and the properties of short-lived radicals and other transient species.
