The UNT Chemistry Department is pleased to announce that Dr. Hao Yan is joining our
faculty as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in August, 2019.

Dr. Yan obtained his Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University, where he worked on
developing chemistry and materials for next-generation nanoelectronic devices under
the advisement of Prof. Charles M. Lieber. From 2012 to 2019, he was a postdoctoral
fellow and research associate at Stanford University and SLAC National Accelerator
Laboratory, where he collaborated with Profs. Nicholas A. Melosh and Zhi-Xun Shen.
Dr. Yan's work at Stanford was focused on the fundamental science and applications
                  of molecular and nano-scale diamonds.

Dr. Yan's research interests lie at the interface between chemical and mechanical
processes, with particular emphasis on understanding the fundamental structure-property
relationship of molecules and materials under mechanical stress and extreme conditions
for the design of novel functional systems.
