Congratulations to Ajyal Alsaleh, Chemistry graduate student working with Dr. Francis
D'Souza, for having her article "Interfacing High‐Energy Charge Transfer States to
a Near‐IR Sensitizer for Efficient Electron Transfer upon Near‐IR Irradiation" chosen
as the cover for an edition of the Angewandte Chemie, International Edition.
Abstract: Strong intramolecular charge transfer in push-pull systems revealing panchromatic
spectral coverage is demonstrated in the Research Article by Rajneesh Misra, Francis
D'Souza and co‐workers (DOI: 10.1002/anie.202013036). Here, triphenylamine‐tetracyanobutadiene, a high‐energy charge transfer species
is covalently linked to a near‐IR sensitizer, azaBODIPY. Efficient charge separation
is observed either by the high‐energy charge transfer or the low‐energy near‐IR excitations.
The inset flower pictures show different colors similar to that observed in the present
set of compounds due to charge transfer phenomenon.
