The honors of discovering element protactinium may be shared by three parties:
Fajans in Karlsruhe {LINK: Karlsruhe}, Hahn in Berlin {LINK: Berlin}, and Soddy in Aberdeen. Soddy did not name the element; he termed it the "Parent of Actinium"; Hahn gave the name "Protaktinium" ("protactinium"). Soddy performed his work at Marischal College in Aberdeen, Scotland. This is the north view of Marischal on Broad Street. The entrance is to the left, which takes one into the interior courtyard.
