The plaque at the base: "Robert Wilhelm Bunsen (1811-1899). Professor of Marburg (1839), Breslau (1851), Heidelberg (1852). Director of the chemical laboratory, founder of chemical analysis, developed the chromium-acid battery and the molten electrolysis for the preparation of magnesium; produced with Gustav Robert Kirchhoff spectral analysis and discovered cesium and rubidium (1860)." He also studied and lived with his parents in Göttingen {LINK: to his parents home in Göttingen}.
