Previous | Home | NextThis is the view northward, with the obelisk on the right. In the distance is l'Église de la Madeleine at the end of Rue Royale. Look carefully for the plaque, level with the walkway, just to the left (west) of the obelisk. The obelisk, carved from red granite and dating from the reign of Pharaoh Ramses II (1303-1213 B.C.), was brought from Egypt in 1833.
