"In this place, at the time of Ministry of the Treasury, on 30 April 1803 was signed the deed of Louisiana by France to the Republic of United States of America. The signatories were Barbé Marbois on behalf of the First Consul Baonparte, and Livingston and Monroe, envoys of President Jefferson. 30 April 2003. France-Louisiana Frano-American in memory of Napoleon."
A U.S. postage stamp was issued in 1953 commemorating the sesquicentennial of the Louisiana Purchase; it pictures Francois Barbé-Marbois, James Monroe, and Robert Livingston.
