This famous photograph is from the autobiography of Henry Roscoe, The Life & Experiences of Sir Henry Enfield Roscoe, taken in 1862 during the visit of Bunsen and Kirchhoff to England. Lady Roscoe was a professional photographer and recorded this important image. NOTE: The identification of Bunsen and Kirchhoff, at the bottom, are incorrect! This misidentification in the original autobiography has led to a great deal of confusion in subsequent literature. Correct sequence left to right: Kirchhoff, Bunsen (seated) and Roscoe.
