When production was at its peak it employed more than 160 employees from Loos. In 1750 Kalmeter died; the operations were left to his widow Anna Sophia (who died 1761) and his nephew John Zenius. The production of ore was subsequently reduced drastically.

Zenius made great efforts to get the business profitable and in 1763 he attempted to expand the glassworks . . . ."
