Don Fausto de Elhuyar (1755-1833) and

Juan José de Elhuyar (1754-1796)

 

  These two Spanish brothers produced metallic tungsten at their Basque Seminary in Bergara, Spain. Don Fausto finally settled in Mexico, where he established the School of Mines; while Juan José was sent to Columbia to oversee South American mining operations.
