Pierre Curie

1859-1906

 

  He was the professor of physics at the Sorbonne in Paris, France, who with his wife Marie discovered polonium and radium. He studied magnetic properties as a function of temperature (the Curie point is the temperature at which a substance loses ferromagnetism).
