The community of Falun (1.2 km northeast of the mine) gave rise in 1819 to the Falun Mining School (Fahlu Bergsskola). The view is northeast. Åsgatan (a street which still exists) extends left to right, just beyond the line of main buildings. Sefström, who co-discovered vanadium, did his work on Åsgatan in the main building to the extreme right. Gahn, who discovered manganese, had his laboratory 80 meters further to the north.
