In the old part of Glauchau, a half-timbered house ("Fachwerkhaus") is a common and quaint scene of this historic town, the birthplace of Georgius Agricola. This humanist, philosopher, doctor, and scientist was the first to differentiate bismuth and antimony, and thus was the first to move beyond the seven metals known to the ancients.
