This is the statue of Georges Jacques Danton(1759-1794), a huge and fiery leader during the Revolution. As the Revolution became bloodier, he tried to reign in the extremists and accordingly was accused himself of sympathizing with the enemy, and was guillotined, one month before Lavoisier. His body was dumped in the Cimetière de Errancis (located at the present Parc de Monceau), the same site as for Lavoisier.
