Thomas Charles Hope

1766-1844

 

  He was a professor of chemistry at Edinburgh University, Scotland, who indepently of Crawford distinguished baryta and strontia. He was one of the first chemists in Great Britain to espouse Lavoisier’s views on elements and combustion.
