"Instituto e Museo di Mineralogia" -- the Museum Bombicci --at Piazza di Porta San Donato on the southern part of Bologna houses the famous "Fosforo di Bologna," the "glowing stone of Bologna." Other specialties of the museum include amber. The museum was founded in 1860 and was named for Luigi Bombicci (1833-1903), Chair of Mineralogy and Director of the Museum.
