They searched through tons of pitchblende from uranium mines of Bohemia {LINK: Svornost Mine}. By means of exhaustive and repetitive manipulations, the Curies obtained 0.1 gram of radium."

"In 1903 they [the Curies] shared with Henri Becquerel the Nobel Prize in physics for the discovery of radioactivity. In 1911 Marie Curie received a second prize in chemistry for her work with radium."
