This is the southward view from Academy Place; the red bricks of the Salvation Army can be seen on the left. At the end of the 19th century this thoroughfare was completed between Mersey and Buttermarket, with the removal of most of the buildings of Warrington Academy. The last remnant of Warrington Academy, the tutor's house, was finally demolished in 1978 when Academy Way was widened.
