Facilitated Learning of Instrumentation - Guided Hands-On Training (FLIGHT)

FLIGHT is a new "microcredential" program designed to help UNT students majoring in STEM areas enhance their success in the job market. FLIGHT provides short training courses in the operation of state-of-the-art scientific instruments that many employers expect students to be able to use.

Employers report that it is difficult to assess what job-essential skills a student has gained in their lab courses. FLIGHT aims to provide a verified record of specific skills and capabilities that will be of value to employers, while also reinforcing your knowledge and hands-on abilities.

Each microcredential course contains a series of compact training modules that can be completed virtually at your own pace, followed by a one-on-on, hands-on training component that confirms your mastery of the instrument. Upon completion, you earn an electronic microcredential badge that you can share with employers. The badge links to a detailed description of the skills you have gained in the course. One microcredential course typically takes 2-4 weeks to complete.
