Dr. Amina El-Ashmawy (PhD 2006) has been named a 2015 Piper Professor by the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. This honor is presented annually to only 10 Texas professors for superior teaching at a college or university. Dr. El-Ashmawy is a professor of chemistry at Collin College since 1991.

Dr. El-Ashmawy was the first PhD student of UNT Chemistry Professor Emeritus Dr. Diana Mason.
